Use of needle electromyography in diagnosis of neuromuscular diseases in dogs
Electrodiagnostic methods are important diagnostic tools in veterinary medicine neurology. The electromyography examination (EMG) is based on recording bioelectrical activities of skeletal muscles. It is useful in differentiating between physiological and pathological neuromuscular system activity and in determining the localization, size and nature of pathologic lesions. Neurological deficits, as well as lameness, are indications for electromyography. EMG is also the modality of choice when neuropathy, muscle atrophy of unknown origin is suspected.
