New veterinary instrument as an aid in the manual removal of retained placenta in cows
The aim of the study was to assess the practical use of a prototype instrument during the manual removal of the placenta in dairy cows. 48 dairy cows were included in the trial but the practical aspects and values of selected parameters of reproduction were analyzed in 16 cows that were being treated for fetal retention and the results then compared with the mean results of the other control groups of cows. The instrument was shown to be useful in these cases. It allows for the detection and removal of the rest of the membranes from the deeper parts of the uterus. The level of fertility in the tested cows by use the new instrument was acceptable
