Neosporosis occurrence in cattle
Neosporosis is a parasitic disease described all over the world in cattle and other species. Its occurrence in Poland has been proved by serologic tests. Neosporosis is most often diagnosed in cattle in which it causes abortions in adults and neurological disorders or other symptoms in calves with transplacental infection. The aim of the study was to check the frequency of Neospora caninum occurrence in cattle. Studies were based on 416 serum samples taken from cows which came from 32 herds from different parts of the country. Samples were taken from animals which had had abortions or other reproduction abnormalities. Ideexx Neospora caninum antibody test kit was used. 39 positive results were found in the study. Based on this we have discovered that Neosporosis is not a problem in cattle husbandry.
